Thank You Bro. Bo, That is an inspiring talk. I believe in the importance of fellowship with fellow believers, we need support/ a community/friends/ family/ a local church to help us in our life's journey. That I believe more than church growth we need Christian community building or should I say Kingdom of God Building. I am not saying that church growth is wrong. (by the way church and Kingdom of God "technically" are two different things. The Church which is established "Mt. 16:18". Who are Called out / redeemed people "Ekklesia" "body of Christs", "Bride of Christ" and other plethora of images describing the church in the bible and the Kingdom of God which is the all encompassing expression of God's reign) What I am saying is that It depends on your understanding of the word church. Many claims they are the true church actuality in the turn of the century there are about 22,000 Christian churches/denominations (including Roman Catholic Church) claiming the power of "losing and binding" that sets the norm to interpret Christ's teachings. ( to which I believe in some of those churches rest the redeeming love and saving grace of God can be found) Yet the bible exhorts us "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all" Eph. 4:4-6. I am almost tempted to flow and write away to my hearts desire all about what i believe. But let me just say that there is one catholic church as we confess in the apostle's creed (that is by the way means "Universal") but not until the 3rd century. where in the Constantine declared the the catholic church was given additional four or five letter name from Europe and now it has become the biggest church or may I say local church because it has been localized by the local place in Europe. And I don't think that the universal church of God can be owned and "controlled" just one place/country as had been implied by the name of the biggest church. Do get mad with me please, What I am saying that The biggest and the grandest "big time" issue for us is the kingdom of God. It is I believe, is the all encompassing, universal expression of God's reign where, I believe you and I belong, whether you are A Roman Catholic believer, a Born again christian, protestant, baptist and so on, these are just...localized/local expressions of the universal church of God. Where in the norm and rules are set by God Himself through the power of the Holy spirit. I dis agree that the Universal church is at the hands of the temporal people arm with the power to wield what is right and wrong and what is holy and defiled. Sorry,. this is very long.
